Having a groom shouldn’t mean being tortured, so we cater to your dog’s needs emotionally as well as physically.
When you and your dog first arrive, we’ll check over your dog (after giving lots of fuss first, obviously) before discussing yours and their needs. We’ll then give them a bath using a shampoo and conditioner suited to their coat – and you can choose the scent! As part of the full groom, we’ll also check their ears and nails and give them a clean and clip if its required.
We’ll then give them a pampering with a gentle brush and blow dry, before styling them the way you’ve requested.
Puppy Grooms
The first groom your pup receives is basically to prepare them for future grooms, so we try to make sure it’s a fun experience. We’ll start by playing with them in the Groom Room (and if they are in our day care, we can do this regularly) so they are more relaxed when they find themselves in the bath! We use puppy friendly shampoo and conditioner before towel trying them and introducing them to the grooming table - and everything that involves!
We’ll start with gentle brushing and blow drying on the quietest setting, with maybe a little trimming around their eyes and bum if needed. We’ll take everything slowly though, and basically just let them get used to the equipment. The aim of this groom is to make future grooms easier, so there’s as much emphasis on the ‘room’ as there is on the ‘groom’, but they will still come out clean, pampered and sweet smelling!
We recommend you have a minimum of three puppy grooms before a full groom, as at each stage the dog will be introduced to new pieces of equipment to slowly build their confidence. Bringing a handful of their favourite treats will also help!
Welfare
Your dog’s welfare is our highest priority and we will always consider welfare over vanity. If your dog is matted we are required to shave it, as de-matting can be a painful process. If your dog requires this, please contact the team. Your dog’s skin can be tender afterwards due to removal of the coat and can show underlying issues, for which we are not liable. Extra costs will be incurred due to the extra time involved, as well as wear and tear of our equipment.
