Day Care

At Paws to Play we are committed to providing your dog with the highest standard of day care. To do this most effectively we work closely with our clients and their dogs to understand their needs and desires. We are fully licensed by Sheffield City Council.

If your dog or dogs require feeding at Paws to Play, they will only be fed with food provided by yourselves and at the time and following all necessary directions as given by you.

For dogs under one year of age, following an assessment by our staff and with full discussion with yourself, when appropriate your dog will be socialised with dogs of all ages and sizes.

If your dog is found to have parasites, (fleas, ticks, lice, etc) then we will need you or a representative to collect the dog as promptly as possible. Your dog will be kept isolated from the other dogs until they are collected. If necessary, your dog will be treated with an appropriate product licensed by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate for use in the UK. This treatment would only be administered following a consultation with our Veterinary Practice.

If your dog becomes ill whilst at Paws to Play, then we will need you or your representative to collect your dog as soon as possible. In exceptional circumstances we may have to treat your dog under the direction of our Veterinary Practice, this will only happen if absolutely essential.

We will only medicate dogs with medication provided by yourself and under directions given by yourself, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

We will not be liable for any veterinary costs incurred during your dogs stay with us at Paws to Play

We will always use the Veterinary Practice provided by you at registration as the first point of call in the rare circumstance that your dog becomes ill whilst at Paws to Play. However if your vet cannot be contacted we will contact our emergency Veterinary Practice, (Peak Vets, https://www.peakvets.co.uk/)

We will engage in enrichment activities with your dog. These may include treats, unless you have expressly stated that you do not want your dog to engage in such activities.

Our staff use their professional training and judgement to manage the dogs in our care and ensure their safety. Unfortunately, this does mean there will be occasions when certain dogs will have to be muzzled or isolated.  You will always be informed if we have to take any of these actions.

Your personal information provided in your registration will only be used by Paws to Play for the purposes of our business and only in relation to the care, wellbeing, and safety of your dog. The information will be stored securely and in compliance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and will not be shared with any 3rd parties.

Grooming

Whilst your pet is in our care at Paws to Pamper, their health, safety and wellbeing is of paramount importance. Your pet will be groomed according to its temperament and tolerance of the grooming process. If your pet is struggling with any aspect of the process, an alternative approach or workaround will be employed where possible.

Occasionally during grooming we discover a pre-existing medical condition that you may not be aware of. If this is the case, we will inform you promptly so that you can seek veterinary advice and treatment.

Although extremely unlikely, accidents can happen during grooming. If this unfortunate situation arises, or if your dog becomes ill during grooming, then we will contact you immediately. If we are unable to contact either you or your emergency contact, or we deem it to be a medical emergency, we will obtain veterinary treatment at the vet you have registered with us. If they are unavailable then we will take your dog to our emergency vets (www.peakvets.co.uk).

Under the Animal Health and Welfare Act (2006) it is our legal duty to ensure that animals are protected from pain, suffering, injury and disease, therefore if when grooming your dog we discover matted hair, we will shave the affected area to ensure the health and wellbeing of your pet. We will also not be liable for any costs accrued by this procedure which is not without risk for the dog. There will be a charge for this procedure.

Whilst we take every care to ensure the health and wellbeing of your pet at Paws to Pamper if due to a non-disclosure of pet illness or behavioural issue your pet is injured then we will not be liable for any costs accrued.

If whilst de-matting your pet, the procedure has taken more than 15 minutes then for the welfare of the dog and to reduce discomfort then we will shave the dog.

We reserve the right to terminate the grooming procedure if your pet exhibits any aggression towards the groomer or another dog in the grooming salon that we have not been informed about prior to the grooming starting. The full charge will still be levied.

Cancellations of grooming booking should be made 24 hours in advance of the booking so that we can rebook the slot. A fee of 50% of the booking cost may be charged in respect of a missed appointment or cancelation. Being 30 minutes late for an appointment will be regarded as a missed appointment and will be charged accordingly.
